Planned Street Takeovers Broken Up In Tampa: FL Highway Patrol

4 drivers and 6 passengers were arrested when several planned street takeovers were broken up in the Tampa area overnight Friday, FHP said.

TAMPA, FL — Planned street takeovers at several Tampa locations were shut down late Friday night into early Saturday morning, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

State troopers and members of the Temple Terrace Police Department and the Tampa Police Department, which received information about the takeovers, responded to the following locations:

  • Busch Boulevard and Florida Avevenue
  • the Temple Terrace Winn Dixie on U.S. Hwy 301
  • Fletcher Avenue and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard

Each scene involved large groups of people and vehicles mingling. At both the Temple Terrace Winn Dixie and the Busch Boulevard and Florida Avenue locations, law enforcement prevented the event from beginning before any street racing or dangerous driving behavior occurred, FHP said.
