Police: Recent Church Burglaries 'Appear Related'

The burglaries occurred in late September, police say.

Three church burglaries that occurred between Sept. 24 and Sept. 28 appear related, according to authorities at the Tampa Police Department.

The incidents occurred during late nights or early mornings, authorities say.

  • Between Sept. 24 and 25, someone broke into Palma Cica United Methodist Church, 3723 W. Bay to Bay Boulevard, smashed a window and took an unknown amount of money. Authorities collected blood, but no fingerprints were found.
  • Between Sept. 26 and 30, Palma Ceia Baptis Church at 3511 W. Bay to Bay Boulevard was broken into. In this case, someone pried open a door, which caused a glass panel to shatter, but took nothing from the church. No fingerprints were found.
  • Between Sept. 27 and 28, a window was removed and money and gift cards were taken from Manhattan Baptist Church, 4300 S. Manhattan Avenue. In this incident, fingerprints were found and taken.
