Police Search For Person Who Shot 16-Year-Old In Curtis Hixon Park
The teen was taken to the hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition. He is expected to recover.
TAMPA, FL — Tampa police are continuing their investigation into a shooting Sunday night at Curtis Hixon Park that left a 16-year-old boy in serious condition.
Just before 9 p.m., officers received a call of shots fired, and arrived to find the teen being given first aid for a gunshot wound by bystanders. He was taken to the hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition. He is expected to recover.
According to police, a fight broke out between two groups of young people that escalated in one person firing a gun at the other group, striking the 16-year-old.

The shooter is described as a Black man in his mid to late teens with a short afro. He is 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and was wearing a blue T-shirt, jeans and black sneakers at the time of the shooting.
Detectives are speaking with witnesses and checking with nearby businesses to gather evidence to identify and apprehend the shooter.
