1. Extended Stay America announced the launch of Extended Stay America Premier Suites including one in Tampa with a ribbon-cutting set for August 3rd. It is one of 25 new or completely renovated properties across the country. (Patch)

2. A Tuesday City of Tampa Citizens Review Board meeting focused on officers who bought alcohol, individual lap dances, and paid for exotic dancers during an undercover investigation that failed to produce leads. The visit cost taxpayers $421 from the department’s investigatory fund. Officers gave conflicting accounts as to why they needed to visit Gold Club, a strip club in Ybor City. (Fox 13 Tampa Bay)

3. Sharks are appearing in Longboat Key as they seek to avoid red tide in the area. Neighbors are shocked by the sudden appearance. Species seen include bonnethead, black tip, nurse and lemon sharks. (WFLA)

4. The University of South Florida (USF) has asked St. Petersburg Regional Chancellor Tadlock to delay his retirement, previously set for December 31st of this year. The search for his replacement was delayed due to high turnover in other administrative positions. (WUSF)

5. Manatee County leaders broke ground Wednesday on Palmetto's 88-acre Washington Park. The county earmarked $2.75 million in infrastructure sales tax revenue and grants to develop the park and provide recreational amenities. It will be the largest recreational community green space in the area. (WTSP)
