Razor Scooter Rider Killed In Christmas Crash
A 20-year-old Tampa woman was killed while riding a Razor scooter on Sheldon Road Christmas night.

TAMPA, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash involving the rider of a Razor electric scooter and two vehicles.
According to the agency, Isabel Alarcon Mateus, 20, was riding a scooter south on Sheldon Road around 11:34 p.m. Dec. 25. Mateus was in the inside lane near the intersection of Hamilton Avenue on a scooter with no rear lights, the agency wrote in an email to media. The scooter, the agency noted, “was not a legal motor vehicle.”
As Mateus continued southbound, deputies say a Pontiac Vibe driven by Brian Edward Joyner, 47, was also heading southbound. As Joyner’s car approached Mateus, he was unable to see the scooter and struck it. Mateus was thrown from the Razor, the agency noted.
