Sea Turtle Trapped By Hurricane Saved By Hillsborough Sheriff's Team

Members of the Hillsborough County sheriff's Special Incident Rescue Team in Fort Myers came upon a critter in need of a rescue.

FORT MYERS BEACH, FL — As members of the Hillsborough County sheriff's Special Incident Rescue Team continued to patrol the Hurricane Ian-devastated Fort Myers area for looters Sunday night, they encountered a resident in need of a rescue Sunday night.

The SIRT members came across a sea turtle stuck in a small pool of water. The turtle was pinned in under a home, unable to escape between the rocks and the sea wall surrounding it.

Team members were able to free the turtle and return it to the open ocean about 100 yards away.
