Son Charged In Mother’s Murder In Tampa: Hillsborough County Sheriff

TAMPA, FL — A Tampa man faces a first-degree murder charge in the Monday morning death of his mother, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Russell Antonio Moore, 36, called 911 just before 8:30 a.m. and made comments about his mental health.

Moore made threatening statements about his mother, 54-year-old Shambray Lavern Levy, while being interviewed by the deputies who responded to his home in the 8000 block of Beaty Grove Drive, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies then found Levy dead inside the home. She had trauma to her upper body, the agency said.

In addition to murder, Moore was also charged with tampering with physical evidence relating to a capital felony.

"This is an incredibly heartbreaking and tragic situation for the family and everyone involved," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "Our deputies acted swiftly to investigate, and an arrest has been made. Our hearts go out to the loved ones affected by this unimaginable loss, and we will do everything we can to support them during this difficult time."
