South Tampa Woman Slinging GOP Merchandise at RNC
Joy Collins is selling punching politician puppets and GOP-themed necklaces at Channelside in Tampa for the Republican National Convention.

Jon Brovold's sold his political and sports-themed merchandise at Super Bowls, college football national championships and now the Republican National Convention this week in Tampa.

"He's a hardcore Republican," said Joy Collins, a South Tampa resident who's helping Brovold sell his wares at a stand set up in Channelside.

Brovold and Collins said business started out slow when Tropical Storm Isaac cut the first day of the convention short Monday — Collins sarcastically called it a "storm," with air quotes — but business has picked up each day since.
Among the hot sellers: GOP necklaces made of Hawaiian Kukui nuts painted red, white and blue (they also come with sports team logos) and boxing politician puppets.
