Stabbing Suspect Jumped From I-275 Overpass Before Arrest: Police

A man accused of stabbing a woman at a Tampa apartment building jumped off an I-275 overpass trying to avoid arrest, police said.

TAMPA, FL — A stabbing suspect jumped from an Interstate 275 overpass before being arrested late Wednesday night, according to a Tampa Police Department news release.

When officers responded to a reported stabbing late Wednesday night at Hunters Village Apartments, 8500 Hunters Village Road, they found the victim, a woman, “with multiple injuries and significant blood loss,” police said.

She was brought to a nearby hospital as a trauma alert by Tampa Fire Rescue. She was in stable condition on Thursday.

He was spotted in a car on County Line Road over I-275 just before 11:30 a.m.

As officers worked to stop traffic, Sapp jumped from the overpass, landing on the interstate and narrowly avoiding being run over by a semi-truck, police said.

Sapp, who suffered serious injuries and was brought to a nearby hospital, will be charged with attempted murder. He was in stable condition Thursday.
