Stash Of Weapons Discovered During Undercover Drug Bust: Tampa Police

In addition to finding cocaine and fentanyl, police said they recovered 23 firearms in a search of the Tampa home.

TAMPA, FL — Two men have been arrested following an undercover drug investigation that culminated with the search of a home at 3608 N. 28th St. in Tampa and the discovery of a stash of weapons Friday, according to Tampa police.

Following an undercover narcotics investigation, Tampa police officers executed a search warrant for narcotics at the home just before 4 p.m. and said they found much more than drugs.

When officers entered the home, they said two people inside, Zavid Delveontae Hill, 24, who lives in the house on 28th Street, and Roland Lamont Fletcher, 21, of the 2100 block of West Conrad Street, fled on foot but were quickly found and arrested. Police said Fletcher had a 9 mm handgun on him when he was apprehended.

During a search of the home, officers recovered 23 firearms, including 13 handguns, nine rifles and one shotgun, according to the police report. Several of the handguns were reported stolen to the Tampa Police Department.

Drugs were also seized from the home, including 35 grams of cocaine and 85 grams of fentanyl pills, according to the police report.

Hill is facing charges of resisting an officer without violence, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, armed trafficking in cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, armed possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, felon in possession of a firearm and violation of probation (for felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm and reckless driving), according to the police report.

Fletcher is facing charges of resisting an officer without violence and carrying a concealed firearm, according to the police report.

"I am proud of the proactive police work that led to our officers taking nearly two dozen guns ouf of the hands of criminals," said Tampa Police Chief Mary O'Connor. "Investigations like this continue to play a key role in keeping our city safe. I also hope this case serves as a reminder to those who own weapons to make sure their firearms are properly secured so they don't fall into the wrong hands."

Fletcher has been released from jail on a $2,500 surety bond. Hill remains in jail without bail, according to jail records.
