Those increasing rain chances on Friday come along with a strong cold front that’s expected to near the region in the late-night hours and stick around into Saturday.

“Showers and a few thunderstorms may accompany the front, especially on Saturday,” forecasters wrote in Tuesday’s Hazardous Weather Outlook report. “It is too early to speculate on the risk for strong to severe storms with this system.”

Forecasters are warning small craft operators to take care on local waters in the wake of the front’s arrival. Conditions may be unfavorable for small boats on Sunday and Monday.

As for that cold front, it’s expected to bring temperatures in the region down into the 60s in the daytime hours and 40s overnight on Sunday and into Monday at least.
