Suspect Named In Tampa Nurse's Murder

Police have a suspect in murder of a Tampa man found dead in his home on Monday.

TAMPA, FL — The Tampa Police Department is on the hunt for the person officers say is responsible for killing a man in his home and then stealing his car and other possessions.

A first-degree murder warrant has been issued for the arrest of Keith Earl Davis, 43. Police say that Davis was released from prison in 2015, and has a local arrest record that includes grand theft, robbery and aggravated battery with great bodily harm charges.

Detectives say Davis is now connected to the Sunday, Dec. 11 murder of William Leslie McGoff, a nurse for LifePath Hospice. McGoff was last seen alive on Sunday.

Police were called out to McGoff’s home in the 4900 block of Chariton Avenue Monday when co-workers said he didn’t show up to work. Concerned, they called police, and asked if officers would check on him, the agency noted in an email.

When officers arrived at the home, they found McGoff’s body. They also said the home appeared to have been “ransacked.” Several of McGoff’s possessions were missing from his home, police said, and so was his 2013 Hyundai Sonata.

Forensic evidence connects Davis to the murder, the email said. “Also, the investigation shows that McGoff’s car has been spotted in north Florida and Louisiana with a person matching Davis’ description.”

When captured, Davis faces first-degree murder, robbery with a weapon and grand theft charges. His current whereabouts is unknown.
