Here are the top five stories in Tampa today:
1. Hillsborough County deputies say a man passed away after an overnight shooting early Monday morning. It happened at Palencia Apartments off Ehlrich Road and Bearss Avenue in Tampa. An investigation is underway. (WTSP)
2. Travel woes continued on Monday with 892 flight cancellations and 1,883 delays within, into, or out of the United States. 12 flights were cancelled and 41 flights were delayed out of Tampa International Airport as of Monday morning after a weekend filled with frustration. (WFLA)
3. Tampa Bay Bucs outside linebacker Shaquil Barrett is out for the last 2 regular-season games of the season. He sprained his right MCL and ACL late in the win against the Panthers. Coach Kevin Garver has also tested positive for COVID-19. (Tampa Bay Times)
4. A legal challenge to proposed land development changes in the Balm and Wimauma areas of Hillsborough County will extend a moratorium on new growth into 2022. Cattle farmer Christopher “Bear” McCullough says of the development plans, “I feel like this is a trampling on a property owner’s rights." (Bay News 9)
5. Walgreens, CVS and Amazon have all imposed purchase limits on at-home COVID-19 testing products in Florida and nationwide. The limits are due to unprecedented demand as the Omicron COVID-19 variant surges. (St. Pete Patch)
