Tampa Arrest in Animal Cruelty Case

A 34-year-old woman has been arrested for mistreatment of a dog and six puppies, who were crated with no food and water, and covered in feces and urine.

Regena Lewis of Tampa faces two charges of animal cruelty after allegedly keeping a dog and six puppies in a small kennel with no food or water, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

One puppy's paws were burned from standing in the urine. Another puppy had a collar embedded in its neck. According to the article, the animals were suffering "unnecessary pain and cruelty."

Lewis was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.
