Tampa Bay Area Weather: Advisories Continue

Sunshine will make a return to the Tampa Bay area this week, but some hazardous conditions remain.

TAMPA, FL — A strong cold front that pushed through the Tampa Bay area Sunday is expected to have a few lingering effects on the weather. While the severe threat has moved along, forecasters at the National Weather Service are warning of the potential for hazardous conditions on waters throughout the region.

Monday opens the workweek with multiple hazard warnings in place, according to the weather service. The region is under a high surf advisory until 1 p.m. Tuesday, a lake wind advisory is in place until Monday evening and rip currents are anticipated to create potentially dangerous conditions along beaches in the region until Tuesday night, as well.

On land, Tampa Bay area residents and visitors can anticipate breezy conditions to continue through Monday at least. The weather service also anticipates a 50 percent chance of lingering showers in some parts of the region Monday. The day’s high, however, should only climb into the low 70s. During the overnight hours Monday, forecasters say to expect breezy conditions to continue with a low in the mid- to upper 50s forecast.
