Tampa Bay Area Weather: Christmas Week 2016

Find out what's in store in the weather department for the Tampa Bay area as the workweek continues.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents don’t have to worry about a white Christmas, but they may find the week ahead a bit warm. The National Weather Service anticipates fairly balmy days throughout the region leading up to Sunday’s holiday.

According to the weather service, Monday should kick things off with a high in the low to mid-80s throughout much of the region. While sunshine is in the forecast for the day, so is a chance of showers. That chance is set at 20 percent as the day continues. Showers are also possible in the overnight hours when the low should fall into the upper 60s.

Tuesday is expected to bring mostly cloudy conditions and a high in the mid- to upper 70s. Rain chances aren’t in the cards. The overnight low is anticipated to be a bit chillier at 61 degrees or so.

Wednesday and Thursday are expected to be near mirrors of each other during the daytime hours with partly sunny skies in the forecast. The high both days should climb into the mid- to upper 70s. Overnight lows are expected to drop into the low 60s. Rain chances do creep back into the picture Thursday night with a 20 percent chance of showers forecast for much of the region.

Friday brings more rain chances and a high that may only reach the low 70s. Mostly cloudy skies are expected in the overnight hours with a high around 60.

While severe weather isn’t in the cards for Christmas week, folks can expect the temperatures to climb heading into the weekend. Christmas Eve is anticipated to see a high around 80 degrees with an overnight low in the low 60s. Forecasters at the weather service expect Sunday’s Christmas Day to bring a high around 80 degrees. The Weather Channel’s forecasters, however, expect even balmier conditions Christmas Day with a high around 84 degrees forecast for much of the region.
