TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay’s Raw Smoothie Co. at 408 N Howard Ave., Unit D, in North Hyde Park/West Tampa, has been awarded $10,000 from Yelp’s Veteran Business Fund as a result of a campaign Yelp launched last year in honor of Veterans Day to help deserving veteran-led and veteran-owned small businesses around the country.

Started in 2016, Raw Smoothie Co. specializes in organic green smoothies and smoothie bowls. Owner Gian Birriel helps to enrich the local Tampa Bay community by providing high-quality, nutrition-rich food.

Veterans own almost two million businesses and employ over five million Americans, and to commemorate the entrepreneurs who have served their country, Yelp is also introducing a new searchable attribute that will allow business owners to self-identify as veteran-owned on their Yelp page.

“Supporting local businesses is core to Yelp’s mission and we hope that Yelp’s Veteran Business Grant gives these entrepreneurs the support they need to fund their business dreams. These veteran entrepreneurs have proudly served our country and are now making an impact in their local communities with delicious food, much-needed home services and interactive cultural experiences,” said Emily Washcovick, Yelp small business expert.
