1. Eisenhower Elementary School teacher Sarah Ann Painter in Clearwater was awarded Florida's Teacher of the Year. She is a mother of six and has served as a Pinellas County teacher for 18 years. (Patch)
2. ZooTampa's manatee care center is almost at max capacity and saw its first red tide patient this week. Although they are close to max capacity, the center says there is still space at another critical care pool. (WFLA)

3. Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed the state Senate President's daughter, Lauran Monbarren, to the University of South Florida (USF) Board of Trustees. The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Republican-led Florida Senate. Monbarren has experience working for school boards in the past as well as Pasco-Hernando State College. 4. 67,413 COVID-19 infections and 358 deaths were reported in Florida reported between July 16th and this Thursday. Hospital officials across the state say beds are filling up with COVID-19 patients. Federal data shows that 48.2 percent of Florida's population is fully vaccinated, slightly below a national average of 48.8 percent. (Fox 13 Tampa Bay)
5. A Tampa detective killed in the line of duty nearly 40 years ago was honored with a service on Friday. City of Tampa Mayor Jane Castor joined Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan at the event and hugged members of Rauft’s family after the service. (WTSP.com)
