Tampa Homeownership Event To Help Homebuyers Navigate Process

The homeownership event will take place on Saturday, June 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tampa Convention Center.

TAMPA, FL — Amid a historically tight housing market, the city of Tampa is tackling the affordable housing crisis from every angle, including an upcoming homeownership event on Saturday, June 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tampa Convention Center.

City staff will be joined by local industry experts to provide anyone interested in becoming a homeowner with insight and advice about the steps involved in the home-buying process and the available financial assistance programs available to income-eligible home buyers.

Real estate agents, lenders, insurance companies, among other housing professionals, will host a series of workshops throughout the day, in English and Spanish, covering a wide range of relevant topics.

City staff will also provide guided bus tours of affordable properties in the city of Tampa. The properties are part of the city of Tampa's Infill Housing Program.

“Despite the housing challenges we have been hit with, we don’t want anyone to ever give up on their dream of becoming a homeowner in the city we all love and are proud to call home,” said Tampa Mayor Jane Castor. “Our housing programs continue to help individuals buy homes where they can live and thrive for generations, and we will continue to maximize our resources to make this possible for many more families. We encourage home buyers to attend the Homeownership Event where our team and partners will empower them with valuable information and knowledge to make their dream of homeownership a reality."

Free parking will be available in the Tampa Convention Center garage. Event doors will open at 9 a.m., with the official kick-off with Castor scheduled at 9:45 a.m.
