Tampa ​I-275 Southbound Ramp To Eastbound I-4 Closing Tuesday Night

TAMPA, FL — Beginning at 11 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, March22, the southbound Interstate 275 ramp (Exit 45B) to eastbound Interstate 4 will temporari close, weather permitting.

During this ramp closure, motorists will detour around the work zone by continuing south on I-275, exiting the interstate using Jefferson Street (Exit 45A), keeping left at the fork, and following signs for Downtown East, left onto Scott Street to re-enter the interstate using the northbound I-275 entrance ramp to access eastbound I-4 (Exit 45B).

Advanced warning signs and electronic message boards will assist drivers traveling through the area. Drivers should expect delays and congestion during this detour.

This closure is necessary as crews perform construction activities as part of the I-275 capacity improvements project. The $85.3 million project is adding one lane in each direction to I-275 from north of I-4 to north of Hillsborough Avenue (U.S. 92) using the existing right of way.

The 2.5-mile project, which began Oct. 25, 2021, is expected to be completed in 2026.

Other improvements include constructing noise barrier walls along the corridor, installing fencing and Intelligent Transportation System devices, and reconstructing the overpasses between Floribraska Avenue and Hillsborough Avenue.
