Tampa Man Sent Online Threats To U.S. Congresswoman: U.S. Department of Justice
A Tampa man pleaded guilty to sending threatening messages to U.S. Rep Ilhan Omar, reports said.
TAMPA, FL — A Tampa man faces time behind bars for sending online threats to a U.S. congresswoman, according to a U.S. Department of Justice news release.
Myles M. McQuade, 30, pleaded guilty to interstate transmission of a threat to injure a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
He faces up to five years in federal prison. A sentencing date hasn’t been set yet.

McQuade sent social media posts “containing gruesome and threatening messages to harm” the congresswoman and members of her family, the DOJ said.
While the news release didn’t name the House member, a Dec. 2 plea deal said that the threat was against Minnesota U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar and her children, WUSF reported.
