Tampa Nonprofit Director Named Mother Of Year
The national organization American Mothers Inc. has recognized TRIBE Seminole Heights Director Kristen Brown as Florida's honoree.

SEMINOLE HEIGHTS, FL — American Mothers Inc., a national nonprofit organization founded in 1935, has selected Tampa’s Kristen Brown as Florida’s Mother of the Year honoree for 2022.
Brown, who is the founder and director of the Tampa nonprofit TRIBE Seminole Heights, joins a list of 53 honorees across the country, one of whom will be named National Mother of the Year® at American Mothers’ national convention on April 30.
“I am humbled to accept this award on behalf of the mothers I serve, and all of the amazing women who are a part of our community,” Brown said. “It’s my honor to work with families and to see the influence of mothers everywhere I turn, and I am grateful for this opportunity, which I will use to celebrate all of them!”

The 2022 Mother of the Year® honorees include women from diverse backgrounds and experiences who are recognized for their work, resiliency and commitment to family and community. Honorees were chosen after a national nomination and selection process led by the American Mothers Inc.
The charitable organization represents 85 million U.S. moms through advocacy, education and support.

Brown, the mother of 12-year-old Logan, founded TRIBE Seminole Heights in 2019. The community-focused nonprofit integrates unique learning experiences, family support and strategic outreach with a focus on the wellness of children and families.
TRIBE has served more than 2,200 families, and Brown leads a team of 130 volunteers, who run enrichment programs and classes for kids. It offers 50 unique classes for kids every week for $5 each, provides family support with free kids’ clothing and shoes, and partners with local elementary schools and family-focused community organizations to support various outreach programs.
In addition to being named Florida’s Mother of the Year®, Brown has been recognized by the Tampa Bay Lightning and Vinik Family Foundation as a “Community Hero.” The DeBartolo Family Foundation has also honored TRIBE with its “Spirit of Humanity Award.”
TRIBE will celebrate the Mother of the Year® Award and honor all Tampa mothers with a film project and art show at The Floridan Palace Hotel in Tampa on May 7. Click here.
