Tampa Police Headquarters On The Market For At Least $36M

The redevelopment of the 1-acre Tampa Police Department headquarters land is "a once-in-a-generation opportunity," Mayor Jane Castor said.

TAMPA, FL — The Tampa Police Department headquarters on North Franklin Street is on the market, with the city issuing a formal Request for Proposals on Monday.

The city hopes to sell the property for at least $36 million with closing on the deal required no later than Jan. 31, 2027, according to a news release.

The buyer will be responsible for all costs associated with demolition, environmental review, surveying, engineering, architecture, rezoning, construction, and all other due diligence or development expenses.

The property, which is just over an acre, encompasses a full city block with Madison Street to the north, Franklin Street to the west, North Florida Avenue to the east and East Kennedy Blvd. to the south.

The city is “seeking qualified and visionary developers” for the land, which is in Tampa’s Central Business District, and has “a prime downtown location envisioned as a catalyst for innovative, high-value redevelopment,” according to the news release.

“Downtown Tampa is evolving fast, and this site offers a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reimagine a key parcel in the heart of downtown,” Mayor Jane Castor said in a statement. “This is a valuable opportunity in the downtown core to create a community-minded development that will serve Tampa for generations to come.”

Those interested in the property must submit responses that include a cover letter and organizational information, a cost and financing plan, requested pre-closing conditions, and special agreement terms by Feb. 6.
