Teen Arrested After Bringing Handgun To Blake High School, Police Say
Officers were notified after a student told administrators at Blake High School that the teen had a gun.

TAMPA, FL — A 16-year-old high school student was arrested Wednesday for bringing a handgun to Blake High School, according to the Tampa Police Department.
Officers were notified after a student told administrators at Blake High School that the teen had a gun.
The teen was approached by school resource officers and school security in the classroom and escorted into the hallway.

Officers said they found the loaded handgun concealed in the teen’s waistband.
The student said he brought the gun from home. He did not make any threats to the school or other students, police said.

He faces a charge of possession of a firearm on school property.
The Tampa Police Department's "Project Locked and Unloaded" offers free gun locks at any district office or at police headquarters. Gun owners are urged to use the program to properly safeguard their firearms.
