Teen Shot After Fight Breaks Out At Curtis Hixon Park In Tampa

TAMPA, FL — Tampa police are investigating a shooting that took place at Curtis Hixon Park in downtown Tampa on Sunday.

Just before 9 p.m., officers were dispatched after a report of someone who had been shot, and arrived to find a 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound being provided first aid by bystanders at the scene. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to early reports, there was a fight between two groups of people that escalated in one person firing a gun at the other group, striking the 16-year-old.

Tampa police will provide more information when it's available.
