Temps Near Freezing Head To FL: Latest Forecast
Parts of Florida could see near-freezing temperatures after a polar cold front moves into the state early next week, forecasters said.
FLORIDA — Temperatures are expected to plunge statewide over the weekend and early next week as two cold fronts, including a rare polar cold front, move into Florida, forecasters said.
“Temps are all over the place the next 10 days due to multiple cold fronts. First one arrives tomorrow (Saturday), followed by another one Sunday,” Denis Phillips, chief meteorologist for ABC Action News, wrote in a Facebook post Friday morning. “Coldest air of the season arrives Monday — Wednesday night, with temps down into the 30s and 40s!”
The National Weather Service’s Tampa Bay office posted to X, formerly Twitter, Friday morning, that “northerly winds will set up in the wake of this front and will usher in a prolonged period of cold weather with some of the coldest temperatures we have seen this Fall.”

The first cold front pushing through Friday comes with a risk of scattered storms across northern and central Florida, WUSF reported. As the front moves south, the chances of rain will decrease.
The second polar front will bring the coldest weather to the state, forecasters said.

While the highs during the early part of next week will only hit the 60s in the Tampa Bay area, Fox 13’s Paul Dellegatto wrote in a Facebook post, adding that the state’s northern counties should expect near freezing temperatures.
“A hard freeze appears likely early next week in the Southeast, including southern Georgia, Alabama, and northern Florida,” the NWS Climate Prediction Center wrote in a post to X. “Please protect susceptible vegetation, and if you are traveling south, bring your jackets!”
Cities along the I-10 corridor, including Jacksonville, Pensacola, Tallahassee and Lake City, will get the coldest weather with temperatures dropping below 32 degrees in some areas, Newsweek said.
Temperatures will drop into the mid-40s Sunday night in the Tampa Bay area, which will see temperatures in this range through mid-week, the NWS said.
The second cold front will even bring lows in the 50s down into South Florida, NBC Miami said.
