TAMPA, FL — The northbound lanes of the Selmon Expressway south of Interstate 4 have fully reopened to traffic after a fiery crash shut down the highway Thursday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A pick-up truck making a u-turn near the toll gantry on the expressway hit a concrete barrier wall, split in half and caught fire just before 9 a.m., the agency said.

The driver, a 41-year-old St. Petersburg man, is in critical condition at an area hospital.
