Voices for Children of Tampa Bay Recieves $20,000 From Suncoast Credit Foundation
Funding from the Suncoast Credit Foundation helps Voices for Children meet essential needs for hundreds of children in foster care
Tampa, FL — Voices for Children announces a charitable gift of $20,000 from the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation. The funds will be used to support children who have been abandoned, abused, and neglected, providing items such as new clothing and shoes, educational supplies and resources, enrichment experiences, furniture, and bedding.
“We are truly honored to have caring community partners like Suncoast Credit Union Foundation by our side, helping us make a meaningful difference for the children and youth we serve. Acts of kindness like these create lasting memories for young people who need encouragement and hope.”, said Jennifer Starr, Executive Director of Voices for Children of Tampa Bay.
Suncoast Credit Union, Florida’s largest credit union, founded the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation to promote the education, health, and emotional well-being of children in the community. Each time a Suncoast member uses their debit or credit card, the credit union donates four cents to the Foundation to fund local initiatives. Since its inception in 1990, the Foundation has raised and donated over $55 million.
“Children are the future for all of us and protecting their interests benefits all of the communities we serve,” says Jeff Kunberger, Executive Director of Suncoast Foundations. “Providing them with basic needs and enrichment fulfills our mission and it deepens our humanity, care and concern, which reflects our values as well,” he added.
About Voices for Children
Voices for Children of Tampa Bay (VFC) was founded in 1986 by a group of women committed to supporting children in Hillsborough County who have experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment. What began as a small group with a vision has grown into an organization that provides essential support to thousands of children and young adults in foster care each year.
Since its inception, VFC has empowered vulnerable children who have been thrown into the complexities of foster care, providing them with vital resources that instill a sense of purpose and hope amid adversity. Central to VFC’s mission are its essential programs, including the Children’s Needs Fund and the Courthouse Facility Dog Program, which serve as cornerstones in delivering a spectrum of indispensable services to children that are unavailable elsewhere.
