What’s Open, Closed On Christmas 2024 In Tampa

TAMPA, FL — With many Tampa-area residents celebrating Christmas on Wednesday, here are some closures and schedule changes affecting government offices, facilities and services over the holiday weekend.

City of Tampa Government Offices: Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

City of Tampa Trash Collection: Residential collection won’t be affected by the holiday on Wednesday. Wednesday’s commercial collection will take place Thursday and there will be a one-day delay for commercial services through Saturday.

McKay Bay Transfer Station and Scale House: Closed Wednesday, reopening Thursday for regular hours.

Hillsborough County Government Offices: Closed Wednesday.

Hillsborough County Trash Collection: There will be no garbage, recyclables or yard waste collection on Wednesday. The regular collection schedule will resume Thursday for customers in the unincorporated Hillsborough County Solid Waste service area, which includes Tampa Palms, Hunter's Green and New Tampa. For customers whose collection day falls on Wednesday, normal service will resume on their next regularly scheduled collection day for pickup of garbage, recyclables or yard waste.

Disposal Facilities: All disposal facilities, including the Southeast County Landfill, Northwest and South County transfer stations, Resource Recovery Facility, community collection centers, and yard waste processing facilities will be closed Wednesday.

Conservation Parks and Skate Parks: Closed Wednesday.

Dog Parks: Open Wednesday.

Hillsborough County Public Schools: All schools are closed through Jan. 3. Students return to the classroom on Jan. 6.

Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative: All locations closed Wednesday.

Hillsborough County Recreation Centers: Closed Wednesday.

Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center: Closed Wednesday. A limited number of animal safety and code enforcement officers will be on call for emergencies only. The emergency phone number is 813-744-5660.

Sunshine Line Transportation Service: Closed Wednesday.
