What’s Open, Closed On Thanksgiving 2024 In Tampa

TAMPA, FL — With Tampa residents celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday, here are some closures and schedule changes affecting government offices, facilities and services over the holiday weekend.

City of Tampa Government Offices: Closed Thursday and Friday.

City of Tampa Trash Collection: Residential and commercial collections regularly scheduled for Thursday will take place on Friday. Friday’s collection will take place Saturday. Regular collection service schedules will resume Monday.

McKay Bay Transfer Station and Scale House: Closed Thursday and Friday, reopening Saturday for regular hours.

Hillsborough County Government Offices: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Hillsborough County Trash Collection: Normal scheduled pick-up for garbage, recyclables or yard waste will resume Friday for customers in the unincorporated Hillsborough County Solid Waste service area, which includes Tampa Palms, Hunter's Green and New Tampa. For customers whose collection day falls on Thursday, normal service will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day for pickup of garbage, recyclables or yard waste.

Disposal Facilities: All disposal facilities, including the Southeast County Landfill, Northwest and South County transfer stations, Resource Recovery Facility, community collection centers, and yard waste processing facilities will be open regular hours on Friday to continue to allow residents to drop off storm debris at the collection facilities and temporary debris management sites.

While Solid Waste facilities are closed on Thanksgiving Day, two temporary debris collection sites will continue operations 24 hours a day, including on Thanksgiving Day:

• Hillsborough Heights Temporary Debris Site - 6209 County Road 579, Seffner (temporary entrance on Taylor Road)
• Resource Recovery Facility - 350 N. Falkenburg Rd., Tampa

Curbside storm debris collection will resume on Saturday.

Conservation Parks and Skate Parks: Closed Thursday, reopening Friday.

Dog Parks: Open Thursday and Friday.

Hillsborough County Public Schools: Closed through Friday.

Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative: All locations closed Thursday, Friday and Saturday, though the Temple Terrace Public Library will reopen Saturday.

Hillsborough County’s Main Customer Service Center: Closed Thursday.

Hillsborough County Recreation Centers: Closed Thursday.

Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center: Closed Thursday.

Hillsborough County Development Services: Closed Thursday.

Sunshine Line Transportation Service: Closed Thursday.

Hillsborough County Social Services and Call Center: Closed Thursday.

Water Resources Customer Service Center in Brandon: Closed Thursday. Emergency calls regarding County water and wastewater service may be made to 813-744-5600.
