What's Open, Closed In Hillsborough County On Thanksgiving

TAMPA, FL — Hillsborough County government offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

There will be no collection of garbage, recyclables or yard waste on Thanksgiving Day, and all disposal sites will be closed. Normal scheduled pickup for garbage, recyclables or yard waste will resume on Friday, Nov. 24, and disposal sites will be open during regular hours.

For customers whose collection day falls on Thursday, normal service will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day for pickup of garbage, recyclables or yard waste.

All conservation parks and skate parks will be closed on Thanksgiving Day but will be open on Friday. All dog parks will be open on Thursday and Friday.

Also closed on Thursday and Friday are:

• The administrative offices of Hillsborough County government  
• Hillsborough County’s Customer Service Center at 813-272-5900  
• All libraries in the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative will be closed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 25. However, the Temple Terrace Public Library, 202 Bullard Parkway, Temple Terrace, will be open on Saturday, Nov. 25.
• Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation recreation centers, including the programs offered at the facilities, will be closed.
• The Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center will be closed but a limited number of animal control officers will be on call for emergencies only. Submit a request via the animal request button here.
• Development services  will be closed.
• The Sunshine Line transportation service  will not operate.
• The Water Resources customer service center in Brandon will be closed. Emergency calls regarding county water and wastewater service may be made by calling 813-744-5600.   

Open on Friday will be:

• All county conservation parks .
• All county skate parks, splash pads and dog parks.
• Hillsborough County solid waste collection services will resume as usual. Also, the Southeast County Landfill, Northwest and South County transfer stations, Resource Recovery Facility, community collection centers and yard waste processing facilities will reopen with a normal schedule.  

City of Tampa offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24.

Commercial and residential customers will not receive collection service on Thursday, Nov. 23.

The revised collection schedule is as follows:

• Residential customers  who normally receive service  on Thursday, Nov. 23,  will receive service on Friday, Nov. 24. Customers who normally receive service on Friday will receive service on Saturday, Nov. 25. Regular solid waste collection service schedules will resume on Monday, Nov. 27.
• Commercial customers  who normally receive service  on Thursday, Nov. 23, will receive service  on Friday, Nov. 24. Collection service will continue to run one day behind through Saturday, Nov. 25. Regular solid waste collection service schedules will resume on Monday, Nov. 27.
• McKay Bay Transfer Station and Scale House, 114 S. 34th St., will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and will reopen with regularly scheduled hours  on Friday.
