Woman Shot, Killed At Tampa Home: Police

Detectives are investigating a Tuesday morning shooting that left a woman dead at a W. St. Joseph Street home, Tampa police said.

TAMPA, FL — A woman was killed in a fatal shooting early Tuesday morning at a home in the 1700 block of W. St. Joseph Street, according to a Tampa Police Department news release.

Officers responded to reports of gunshots heard coming from a home in the area just before 5:45 a.m.

They found a woman in her mid-30s with a gunshot wound and immediately began providing life-saving measures, police said.

She was brought to a nearby hospital, where she died from her injuries.

The suspect wasn’t at the home when officers arrived, police said.

Evidence suggests the victim and suspect knew each other, investigators said. Detectives are working to determine what led up to the shooting and identify those involved.
