AUBURNDALE, FL — The Tampa Bay Sun FC, a new women’s professional soccer team in the area, will host its only open tryout May 25 in Auburndale.

Advanced players ages 16 years old and up can show off their skills and try out at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Advance registration is required. There are only 200 registration slots available. Sign up for tryouts online here.

The Tampa Bay Sun FC is one of eight initial markets participating in the USL Super League’s inaugural season, which kicks off in August.

The team’s head coach is Denise Schilte-Brown, who served as the University of South Florida women’s soccer head coach for 17 years. Head of soccer operations is Sam Ishee, the former youth development director for the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

The team will play its home games at a new state-of-the-art 5,000-plus seat stadium on the Hillsborough river, next to Blake High School.
