Here are the top stories in Tampa today:

1. The Floridan Palace Hotel, originally built in 1927, is under new ownership and has been purchased by 1754 Properties LLC. The new owners are looking to hire new employees to join the current team and have restaurant and wedding operations open and running by the end of 2021. (Creative Loafing Tampa)

2. A family in Palm Harbor is now financially devastated after a Tesla crashed into their home. The driver, Vaughn W. Mongan, has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, three counts of reckless driving resulting in serious injury, and one count of reckless driving resulting in property damage. He was driving 116 mph when he crashed into the home. (Patch Tampa)

3. Southshore Insurance Professionals has opened a new Winthrop location. Owner Michelle Mosher opened Southshore Insurance in 2014 and considers Riverview home. They write insurance statewide and also offer virtual appointments. (Osprey Observer)

4. The Yard Milkshake Bar is now open in Tampa. It offers signature milkshakes and sundaes as well as special options for people with dietary restrictions. Owners Logan and Chelsea Green were seen on Shark Tank. (That's So Tampa)

5. Riverview High School students are helping snook rebound after cold snaps and red tide through their aqua science program with Mote's Aquaculture Research Park. Nearly 2,000 snook have been released in total. (Fox 13 Tampa)
