2 Killed, 1 Critically Injured In St. Petersburg Interstate Crash: Police

Florida Highway Patrol investigated an early Friday morning fatal single-car crash that killed two Tampa men, and critically injured one.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Two Tampa residents were killed in an early Friday morning crash on Interstate-275 near milepost 31 when the driver lost control of the SUV, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Five people were in the SUV driven by a 19-year-old Tampa man. At about 7:10 a.m., he drove southbound along the interstate in St. Petersburg when the SUV ran off the road and flipped when it got to the shoulder, according to investigators. Three of the people were thrown from the vehicle, including the driver. Two of those passengers both from Tampa, a 30-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, died from injuries endured in the crash. troopers said.

Another 30-year-old passenger of Tampa experienced critical injuries. The driver had minor injuries along with another passenger.
