3 ‘Young Men’ Sought In Deadly Hit-And-Run: St. Pete Police

The suspects were driving a stolen Jeep when they hit and killed a 70-year-old man crossing 9th Avenue S., St. Pete police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Investigators are searching for “three young men” in a stolen Jeep who hit and killed a man crossing 9th Avenue S. Monday night, St. Petersburg police said in a news release.

The suspects were speeding north on 12th Street S. when they turned west onto 9th Avenue S. just after 9 p.m.

The victim, Edward Webb, 70, was crossing the street not far from his home when the Jeep hit him, police said.

The Jeep continued on to the intersection of 9th Avenue South and 14th Street South then stopped.

The three suspects jumped out of the vehicle and ran off, police said. The Jeep had been reported stolen earlier in the day.

Webb later died from his injuries at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital.
