4 Candidates Advance To St. Pete City Commission Nov. 5 Election
Boland, Harting, Newtown, Givens move forward after the St. Petersburg City Council primary election, according to unofficial results.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Four candidates have moved forward to the Nov. 5 general election ballot after the St. Petersburg City Council primary Tuesday, according to unofficial results from the Pinellas County Supervisor of Election.
Pete Boland earned 29 percent of the vote, while his closest opponent, Mike Harting took home about 27 percent of the vote in the District 3 race.
They were the top two vote-getters in the race, earning them a spot in the general election.

They bested three other candidates: Nick Carey (23 percent of the vote), Juan Lopez (16 percent) and Barry Rubin ( 4 percent).
In District 7, Wengay “Newt” Newton had the lead in a crowded field with about 35 percent of the vote. Corey Givens Jr. was behind him with nearly 23 percent of votes.

As the top two vote-getters, both advance to Nov. 5.
They bested four other opponents in the race: Treva Davis (18 percent of the vote), Donald Bowens Jr. (10 percent), Dan Soronen (9 percent) and Eritha Cainion (about 5 percent).
