An 88-game schedule doesn't happen accidentally; the behind-the-scenes

Citizens 75 stay healthy with exercise that fulfills its chartered purpose; entertaining tourists and citizens of St Petersburg, Pinellas

Three new members will join the Kids and Kubs Board for their 95th year of operation. The nine-member Board is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the oldest senior softball organization in the nation. Trademarked as the "World Renowned Kids and Kubs," they move into their 95th year on Tuesday, October 29, 2024

Incorporated as a stand-alone 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that operates independently of the City of St Petersburg governing structure and receives no support from the city budget.

"Kids and Kubs mission is "healthy exercise for men and women senior citizens over74 years of age,"

By its 1938 Charter, the Club is "To promote and play exhibition softball games for the entertainment and pleasure of the members of said Corporation (St. Petersburg), as well as the surrounding communities."

Will Michaels will again lead the Three Quarter Century Softball Club in his third year as President. The Board meets monthly and holds nine membership meetings during the competitive season. Michaels is the past executive director of the St Petersburg Museum of History and the Director of the Freedom Plaza Military Officers Retirement Community.

Don "Cubby" Kuchinski will move from Board member to the Club's Vice President position. (No question about "Cubby" 's favorite Major League Baseball team) he will chair the new Member Assistance Committee, providing financial assistance, dues, and uniforms to prospective members with challenging financial requirements. Kutchinski's duties include planning and managing Saturday exhibition games such as Tampa Bay General Hospital. Family Day, TASCO Teens may be added throughout the season, including visits from the Boomerangs and to the VFW and exhibitions.

Ed Asay joined the organization in 2011. A veteran of over 40 years in softball. Served eight years as Kids and Kubs Secretary for 11 years and brochure chair for six years. Ed has been a significant leader in funding local charities through the Club's Trust Fund earnings. During the calendar year 2023, the overall return on the fund was 8.19%. $2,301 was distributed to 10 local charities (and a like amount to the Club's operational account)

Dave Glauner will continue in his position as Treasurer. Dave has held the Treasurer position since joining the Kids and Kubs organization in 2014. A former Cleveland firefighter. He played softball for the St Pete Half-Century Softball Club for 10 years. He is responsible for the Club's day-to-day balance sheet.

New Board member Frank Sirois is the Club's 24-25 season secretary. Frank joined Kids and Kubs in 2017. He administered the Club's Player Pool for the last two seasons, ensuring each game was fully staffed with player personnel.

A retired carpenter from Hartford, CT, who has also played at Gulfport and Woodlawn, will record, maintain, and keep all official records of the organization, including the By-Laws, Board and membership meeting minutes, membership information, and state and federal reports and filings. Prepare annual game and event schedule and distribute it to members. Annually, the Secretary shall file to the State of Florida Corporation Department (Sunbiz.org) to maintain corporation status.

Joe Hannah. He will continue as a Board member in 24-25, and Hannah will oversee field preparation during the regular season and Summer Ball, the return of equipment at the end of the play, and supervision of field assistant, including responsibilities as coordinator of annual picnics, 50/50 drawings, and ensuring the site is sufficient.

Ed Asay, a longtime member of the Club and many Secretary of the Board, joined the Club in 2011. Asay served as Kids and Kubs Secretary for 11 years. Currently, he is charged with the Club's brochure, published annually.

Bob Kane, a member since 2021, is the former college president and dean of administration. Serves the Board as a member of the Trust fund and reserve account. Advising and assisting the Treasurer and making decisions in reallocating investments per the Board's resolutions.

Mike Hines, a member since 2015, is new to the board lineup. Coordinating a pool of substitute players. Mike will manage player personnel, assuring each team has a full roster of players for each game. A retired police Captain, Mike played 18 years with St Petersburg Half-Century Softball Club.

Mike Vander Syde is new to the Board for 2024-25. He will take on the role of field preparation supervision and new member processing, which includes providing uniform order forms for member applications and other information to prospective members collecting application forms and related payments to the uniform coordinator, President, Secretary, and Treasurer as appropriate.

Board members are assisted by numerous volunteers who deal with public relations within the Club.

Significant contributors to the Club's operation are Rob Moorman, Moorman Photographics, Official Photographer for the Kids and Kubs since 2002, and Eric Mathre, Videographer, Mathre Communications, who provides film of special events. Scorekeeping is managed by Mitzi Hines. Nancy Cox, Barbara Ewald, and Mike Vander Syde, who act as "official scorers," enable team statistician Tom Heiderscheit to compile 28 categories emailed to every player the morning after each game as "Breakfast Box Scores."
