Accused Hit-And-Run Driver Turns Himself In
A driver involved in one of two fatal hit-and-run crashes in St. Petersburg Monday night turned himself into authorities.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — As St. Petersburg Police continue to investigate a fatal hit-and-run crash that left a 63-year-old pedestrian dead Monday night, officers say the motorist involved has turned himself into authorities.
According to the agency, Ussouf Ristemov, 29, was heading north on 4th Street North around 10 p.m. Jan. 9. At that time, a man was crossing east to west in the 4200 block of 4th Street North.
The front end of Ristemov’s Toyota Prius struck the 63-year-old man, throwing him to the roadway, an email from the agency said. The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Ristemov left the scene, but later contacted authorities.
The investigation remains active with no charges announced at this time. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the police department at 727-893-7780.

The crash was one of two deadly encounters involving pedestrians Monday night. St. Petersburg Police are looking for a light-colored SUV involved in a hit-and-run that occurred on 49th Street North shortly aftter the 4th Street crash.
