Ambulance Bay Construction Begins At Bayfront Health St. Petersburg
Bayfront Health St. Petersburg is widening its emergency room ambulance bay. The project will affect traffic in the area.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Construction has started on the expansion of the emergency room ambulance bay at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, which is located at 701 6th Street S.
The project will widen the ambulance bay ramp to better accommodate the hospital’s emergency services volumes and make it safer for patient uploading, according to a news release from Bayfront Health.
The work will affect traffic patterns in the area, including part of eastbound 6th Avenue South, through September. The westbound side won’t be affected by the construction.

“As Pinellas County’s only level II trauma center, we’ve seen significant growth in emergency department volumes over time, hence the need for more space,” Liz Lavelle, administrator of patient care, said. “When this project is completed, our bay will be expanded to provide for eight ambulances at a time instead of the current four.”
The work, which is scheduled for completion next summer, does not involve the adjacent emergency department.
