
Louis Zulli Jr., Network Administrator, at Lakewood High’s Center for Advanced Technologies (CAT) magnet program, has been recognized as the best in the world with two first place awards from Microsoft Partners in Learning Global Forum.
In an awards ceremony held in Washington, Louis received his first place awards for excellence in Collaboration and Cutting Edge Use of Technology in Learning.
Collaboration project - “When Fish Fly,” integrated computer science, fine arts, business and economics. Student design teams developed a dynamic motion-based game simulation for Kinect for Xbox 360 that replicates the sights, sounds, history and “sense of place” of Pike Place Fish Co. in Seattle, Washington.

Cutting Edge Use of Microsoft Technology for Learning project - “CATNIP,” Center for Advanced Technologies News and Information Portal used a wide variety of technology programs, and students collaboratively developed and managed their school’s intranet, which integrates campus communication, curriculum planning and facilities management into one site.
Lakewood High’s CAT program was ranked as the 16th best program in the nation by Newsweek magazine.

This college-preparatory program prepares students for entry into engineering, medicine, science, multimedia, communications and computer science careers. Students experience hands-on projects with robotics, satellite communications and multimedia technologies with this program.
