
Gardening in South Florida can be ridiculously easy or a frustrating challenge.
St. Petersburug's Water Department is holding a series of six free workshops on gardening, Florida style.
They run from January 25 to March 7. The series - which will help gardeners save water, time, and sweat equity - will include presentations, hands-on activities, give-away items, displays, publications, and tours of a Florida-friendly Demonstration Garden.

Classes will be held on Wednesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the St. Petersburg Water Resources Department's "green" administration building at 1650 Third Avenue North, St. Petersburg, Florida 33713.
Pre-Registration is strongly suggested as seating is limited.

- January 25 Florida-Friendly LandscapingTM, Avoiding Bad Plants, Gardening for Wildlife.
- February 1 Protecting our Water Ways with Proper Fertilizer Use and Rain Barrels. After attending workshop (this day only), Rain Barrels will be available for purchase!
- Feb. 8, Landscape Design 1- Basics (the first of two classes). Bring your landscaping ideas! Tour of the city's Florida-friendly Demonstration Garden prior to workshop.
- Feb. 22, Landscape Design 2- Clinic (continuation from Feb. 8th class). Experts work with you on your landscape plan! Also, Proper Plant Installation and Establishment, including the latest research results. Tour of the city's Florida-friendly Demonstration Garden prior to workshop.
- Feb. 29, Sensible Sprinkler Systems and Micro-Irrigation Clinic. Includes hands-on activities and product demonstrations.
- March 7, Landscape Maintenance - Everything from Proper Fertilizer and Pesticide Use to Pruning, Composting, and Mulching. Includes a tree pruning demonstration.
