Bicyclist Killed By SUV On 34th Street S: Police

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A bicyclist was hit and killed by an SUV Saturday night in St. Petersburg, St. Pete police said.

A 2004 blue Ford Explorer drove northbound in the center lane of 34th Street South at 15th Avenue South just after 8 p.m. A 72-year-old bicyclist, John Lee, was hit by the Explorer as he crossed the intersection, according to authorities. The driver stopped and cooperated with investigators.

Lee was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, and died a few hours later.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
