Bike Thieves Target Snell Isle, Old Northeast
There have been multiple thefts on Snell Isle, and there is concern that the suspect or suspects are stealing items in the Old Northeast as well.

The Old Northeast Neighborhood Association is warning residents about a series of bicycle thefts from garages from Snell Island and perhaps the Old Northeast.
The thief rides in on an old tattered bicycle, finds an unlocked car from which he takes the garage door clicker, waits for all cars to leave the house, then uses the opener to break in the garage and take very expensive bikes, leaving the one on which he rode.
The following are recommended steps to take:
- If your car is not garaged, but you keep an opener in the car, put the opener somewhere that will not be seen from outside the car.
- Lock your car.
- Make sure your garage door is closed when leaving home during the day or at the end of day.
- Keep an eye out, especially in the alley ways, for people you do not know acting suspiciously.
Here is the number for your community resource police officer: 727-893-7780.
