Black History Festival in Midtown

Everyone is invited to the Midtown GTE Community Financial Center's Black History Festival on Saturday, February 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The GTE Community Financial Center is hosting a Black History Festival for all ages in Midtown on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the former GTE Federal Credit Union, at 2190 18th Ave. S.

The event will feature food and beverage vendors, giveaways, free health screenings, children's activities, African American art, homeowner assistance information and live entertainment between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Come out and watch the Midtown Angel Dancers, a K-9 demonstration, puppet show, gospel groups (The Mighty Sons of Zion and the Original Florida Spiritualaires) and more.

St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster stated in a city press release, “The GTE Community Financial Center has been a welcome addition to Midtown and I look forward as GTE continues to provide comprehensive financial services to this community.”   

This GTE Community Financial Center has provided financial services to the Midtown community since its grand opening in December 2009, the release said.

This is another event and business assisted by the city of St. Petersburg Community Services Department in collaboration with the Business Assistance Center, Police, Sanitation, Parks and Recreation, and the Marketing Departments, according to the release.
