Car Crashes Into Utility Pole, Kills Driver: St. Pete Police

A car that went 80 mph crashed through a chain link fence in St. Pete and hit a utility pole, authorities said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 31-year-old man was killed in a single vehicle crash in St. Petersburg Sat. night, according to the St. Pete Police Department.

Dana Holtorf sped at about 80 mph at 11 p.m. when he crashed a 2014 red Hyundai Sonta through a chain link fence in the 2200 block of 118th Avenue, detectives said. The car hit a palm tree and then collided into a wooden utility pole. The victim did not have on a seatbelt.

Holtorf was pronounced dead at Bayfront Health, according to authorities.

Investigators have not confirmed if the driver was impaired.
