ST. PETERSBURG, FL — As St. Petersburg residents 65 and older tried to register Monday for the COVID-19 vaccination, they were met with technical issues from the Pinellas County Health Department's website and phone system.

"We are aware of the issues occurring with the Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County's COVID-19 vaccine registration system and our phone network," the department said in an email. "We understood that there would be an enthusiastic response, and we are working to promptly resolve the issues."

Officials said the department is in the early phases of the vaccination program, and there will be more opportunities for vaccinations in the coming weeks and months. They appreciate patience and understanding from the community as they work to resolve the online registration and phone issues.
