Beating in Williams Park Results in Murder Charge
St. Petersburg Police have charged Watson Hayness III, 39, with 2nd Degree Murder for the death of Charles Roach.
Police have now charged Watson Haynes III with 2nd Degree Murder in the death of 57-year-old Charles Roach.
, police said Roach was found near Williams Park in downtown St. Petersburg unresponsive with severe upper body trauma. He was transported to Bayfront Medical Center where he died June 29.
According to police, Haynes stole Roach's backpack after mugging him.

Haynes III, 39, was arrested at 20th Avenue and 16th Street North, after witnesses identified him as the suspect in the beating and robbery of Roach in the downtown park, at 350 2nd Ave. North.
