Ewald's Kats win Three Quarter Century Softball Club Championship
Kats win ten of fourteen games nearing the season's end to capture pennant .

“Ewalds Kats” put the finishing touches on their pennant-winning season with a 10 to 9 victory over ‘Kutchinski’s Kubs” in action at North Shore Park on Tuesday, March 26. The victory maintained the 2 1/2 game lead with only one game left in the season and assured the Kats of the IntraClub championship. Winning ten of fourteen games nearing the season’s end.
Members of the champions o f the IntraClub Pennant included: Mike Callihan, Jim Crook, Barbra Ewald, Dave Glauner, Pierre Goiran, Mike Hines, Ray Holt, Dave Laramee, Bob Linderman, Yvan Millette, Jerry Wollman, Bert Valery complied a record of 23-14 while in separating themselves from teams with a late season 10-4 won/loss record.
The Kubs, losers of eight straight, jumped to a seven-run lead at the end of three innings. Kats pitcher Jerry Wollman blanked the Kubs in innings 4,5, and 6 while the Kats edged back in the game, scoring ten runs capped by a six-run unlimited inning rally to take a 10-7 lead.

The Kubs rallied for two runs in their last at-bat but fell short, losing 10-9.
In second-game action, “Budreau’s Kids” sewed up a second-place finish with a 18-3 “mercy rule” victory over Hannah’s Kolts.
