TAMPA, FL —A 24-year-old California gambler who surrendered to authorities in Tampa last March after he sent death threats to four Tampa Bay Rays players plead guilty on Wednesday to charges of transmitting threats in interstate or foreign commerce.

Benjamin Patz of Napa, California, sent threats to several professional athletes that also included a female soccer player in Sweden who he threatened to rape and dismember, according to the FBI.

The outlet reported that the threats sent to the Rays players included killing their entire family and dismembering them.
